What are DBAs?
Most online programs will ensure that the work you submit is your own work and that you can demonstrate what you have learned in your VS course. During a DBA, you will demonstrate that you have met proficiency.
In VS, you will show what you learned through UNIT DISCUSSION-BASED ASSESSMENTS (DBAs)
Are our courses rigorous? Yes.
Can you do it? YES!
Will you get support from the VS team? Absolutely!
And will you learn a lot in VS? Yes, you really will. Not only will you learn about your content, you will also learn about time management, setting goals, working hard and learning how to learn online.

Are DBAs required?
Yes, DBAs are required in order to earn credit in a VS course.
You will do one DBA for each unit in each course you take.
NOTE: You cannot pass a VS course if you cannot pass all DBAs that teachers assign to students in a course.
REQUIREMENTS:
- in person OR on camera with your VS teacher
- you must pass to earn credit
- notes and other resources may or may not be accessible. Ask your teacher.
- DBAs are completed in the VS Hub, not in the library, at home or other locations. Talk to your teacher if you need an accomodation.
-
How and when do I schedule a DBA?
DBAs need to be completed during or at the end of each UNIT.
Connect with your teacher via the QUAD course for your VS teacher and look for their DBA schedule. Sign up.
REQUIREMENTS:
- in person OR on camera
- you must pass to earn credit
- notes and other resources may or may not be accessible. Ask your teacher.
- in the VS Hub using PPS Chromebooks connected to SECURLY. Reach out to your teacher, not your mentor, if you need accommodations.

How many DBAs in a course?
There is ONE DBA for every UNIT you have in your course. If there are fewer units, there are fewer DBAs.
Most students take courses with four units, so that is four DBAs.
Best practice: Reach out to your teacher EARLY to ask about DBAs.
